The aims

  • Give a variety of challenges and use different equipment (physical objects, pen, ruler and compass, DGS), in order to take account of the pupils’ different attitudes and learning styles( challenge, technology, support)
  • Stimulate interest, curiosity, motivation (fun, motivation)
  • Apply mathematical knowledge to real life situations (real world)
  • Invite pupils to develop their own projects, to share their ideas and knowledge and help them (self guided learning, cooperation)
  • Help pupils to construct meaning from their own experiences, knowledge and strategies and to connect their prior concepts to more “scientific” concepts.
