The shaft of sunlight hits the Winter Solstice megalith, just as the sun rises over the horizon on the 22 December. Due to precession, the change of the tilting of the Earth in 5,500 years, the shaft has moved about 6 cm towards the main axis of the temple. In the time when the temple was built, around 3,500 BCE, the shaft would have been projected on the very edge of the megalithic marker.
