This photograph was taken before the collapse of part of the temple in 1995. In the restoration, megaliths that were considered unstable were removed from the facade - not taking account of the Summer Solstice alignment of Mnajdra. Due do this, at present more light comes in through the crack. The animation below shows the stones that were removed. Under the animation are two photographs of the projection of the ray of light on the megalithic marker, before and after the removal of the facade megaliths.
