The water pit in the bottom of the photograph was dug up between 1905-1911 by the workmen of Sir Temi Zammit as they where trying to empty the site from water during the excavation of the site.
| A trilithon beautifully cut into the rock leads into the chambers of the lowest level. The last steps of the seven uneven steps are seen on the right with the rock cut out pillar supporting the last step.
