While working, I often imagine an ideal wall, an ideal environment that the finished work could be placed in. This could have earned me -- and my work -- the label of "decorative", at a time when the term decorative was used only in a negative sense. For me, above all the term implies discretion and refinement in aesthetic choices. I imagine the room, the light, the environment and the people who and ideally with whom my paintings could coexist, giving each a distinct and precise identity. Once they're completed, of course these works take on a life entirely independent from the environment for which they're conceived. I would like that my vocabulary, and the vocabulary of my work, be understood by others. The style of my compositions is my expressive language. The colors, the contrasts, the internal movement I see within myself are expressed in my paintings, and they are my way to communicate to others. They can't be left to be understood by me alone.
